Cameras

The following are cameras and assorted photographic devices I have built over the past few years. Not an exhaustive list.

SPUD (2016)

A standalone digital medium format scanner camera, producing 0.8 megapixel (1024 x 768) images in 16-bit grayscale or 48-bit color.

Canon P TTL (2015)

Adding TTL (through-the-lens) metering to a 50-year old rangefinder camera, using a light-to-frequency converter, ATtiny85, and HP bubble display.

Lux (2014)

Completely open-source camera using off-the-shelf parts, including electronics and optics. Produces 6x6 images on 120 film using a 65mm f/6.3 singlet lens and electronically controlled shutter.

Laika (2013)

Superwide camera using Mamiya 50mm f/6.3 Press lens, making 6x9 images on 120 format. My first 3D printed camera, printed in Polyamide from Shapeways.

Duo (2012)

Twin lens reflex camera designed for 3x4 instant film and 120/220 roll film. Was the subject of a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising nearly $20k by over 100 investors.

Field 23 (2010), Field 23 ACME (2011)

Field camera based around the Mamiya 80mm f/2.8 lens and the 2x3 format. Was intended for 2x3 sheet film, but also found use with a 6x9 roll film back, and a 3x4 Polaroid back. A later iteration converted the rack-and-pinion focus to an ACME leadscrew type focus mechanism, and leather to waterproof composite bellows.
